We are both relatively new to the world of Cricut, which was introduced to us by our incredibly talented and crafty friend, Jess, of Everyday Party Magazine. We couldn’t be happier that we finally took the leap and got crafty with our own Cricut Explore Air 2!!
This amazing machine makes it SO easy to create thousands of gorgeous custom ideas and designs and it is so user friendly that once we got started we were instantly addicted! We love that we can adjust settings by simply adjusting a dial.
Oh, and did we mention it has a writing setting?! Once you open the machine you can add a special pen by the blade and you will never worry about sloppy handwriting ever again!
Our new Cricut Explore Air 2 not only saves us so much time while crafting but it helps us to come up with new fun ideas and concepts that we would have never even thought we could make at home. Plus, it doesn’t hurt that it is the perfect mint green color. It really is the dream machine for any crafter, whether or not you are the experienced crafter or simply a novice!

The Party Table:
We used our new Cricut Explore Air 2 to create all of the adorable customized ideas for our Kate Spade Inspired Bat Mitzvah. We simply love a Kate Spade theme. It can be customized to fit a wedding, bridal or baby shower or even a kids party. We thought this would be a chic yet playful theme for our styled Bat Mitzvah idea.
We started out by layering our table with some Kate Spade basics; a hot pink table cloth, geometric terrariums filled with bright flowers, and plenty of gold sequins and black and white stripes!
We wanted to add a youthful and modern touch to our centerpiece so we placed a lightbox in the center of our table which read “Rachel’s Bat Mitzvah”. To add a cute touch of Kate Spade style, we opted to add a Adhesive Gold Matte Foil spade detail. We created this super cute detail by using Cricut Design Space. This tool is so useful and they literally have thousands of free images and products to choose from. We simply did an image search for a spade and customized it to the size we needed, and voila! We had our very first custom piece of decor!
Flanking our centerpiece light box, were 4 gold geometric terrariums overflowing with bright fresh florals ranging from hot and soft pinks to white. We love how fresh flowers make a table look!
The Place Settings:
This was absolutely our favorite decor detail because we were able to customize EVERYTHING!! We added our own flare using our Cricut Explore Air 2 to each place setting, which included the layered plates, cups, utensils and even the cutest cupcakes ever! Head here to get the full step by step tutorial to create this adorable place setting with your Cricut Explore Air 2!
We started by layering our plates (we love to layer, it always makes a basic place setting look bold!) We then used the Adhesive Gold Matte Foil to create a set of coordinating spades to fit our dessert plates. Then, beneath easy individual spade, each guest’s name was displayed in Hot Pink Cricut Vinyl.
We created these by typing in with our favorite font (buttercup) each guests name and then cut them out onto Hot Pink Cricut Vinyl. We loved how the plates also served as a place card.
Finally, we wanted to add a classic Kate Spade inspired miniature bow. We popped into Cricut Design Space and simply did an image search for “bow” and up popped dozens of options. We selected the bow that best resembled our look and cut it onto Hot Pink Cricut Vinyl. Each bow was placed on an angle at the top of our dessert plates.
The cups were also a breeze! We took basic glassware and added a chic pink spade to coordinate with the dinnerware. These spades were also cut from Hot Pink Cricut Vinyl (can you tell that we are totally addicted to the vinyl!?!) and then were pressed onto the cups. Not fuss, no mess. This simple detail truly transformed the glassware in minutes.
We also added mini spades to our gold cutlery, because the more spades, the better! Plus anything mini is always adorable. The Hot Pink Cricut Vinyl stuck right on and was oh so cute.
Every celebration calls for cupcakes! We wanted each guest to have their very own adorably themed cupcake at their place setting. Each cupcake was displayed on a sweet white pedestal in a custom black and white cupcake wrapper which we made using card stock and the Cricut Explore Air 2.
The Backdrop Table:
A chic party table calls for a glamorous backdrop!
A giant pink spade was cut from Hot Pink Cricut Vinyl and displayed on a simply rectangle cut from Adhesive Gold Matte Foil. An ornate white frame added the perfect touch to our custom creation and looked stylish hung above an over sized flower box billowing with bright pink peonies, roses and hydrangea.
We added another Hot Pink Cricut Vinyl spade detail to the front of the glittered flower box for a bright, themed pop of pink.
Beside the flower boxes rested 2 gold foiled trays with another Hot Pink Cricut Vinyl spade. These trays took less than 5 minutes to customize and are perfect for serving up drinks, desserts or favors!
Lastly, whats a Kate Spade Party without over sized balloons! This was the easist DIY project ever!
We cut out 25 Adhesive Gold Matte Foil spades and added them to our plan white jumbo balloons to transform them from basic to brilliant!
They looked chic and modern next to our table and it only took minutes to create them!
