It has been the quintessential winter wonderland here in the North East for the last couple of weeks and we’ve used that time to do everyone’s favorite Christmas pastimes; Christmas decorating and cookie baking, using some equally sweet and beautiful treats from SweetWorks! These adorable ornaments and delicious cookies are easy to do yourself and we have included everything you need below to DIY!
To make this festive ornament you only need a few easy supplies:
-a clear plastic ornament from your local craft store
-some pretty holiday ribbon
-Celebration by SweetWorks red, white and green Pearl candies (www.sweetworks.net)
-hot glue gun
Simply fill your ornament with SweetWorks Pearls for a quick and cute handmade ornament. Once we filled our ornament with the candies, we made sure to hot glue the top back on and secured a holiday ribbon to add just the right touch! You could personalize your ornament even more by writing a special message or letting the kids add their handprints! Once dry, hang it on your tree and enjoy for years to come!
**Delicious Pizzelle Recipe** (courtesy of All Recipes)
Pizzelles are a staple Christmas cookie in our Italian household and what better way to dress them up than by adding some SweetWorks red and green Sixlets in the shape of holly berries and leaves! The kids will love leaving these special treats out for Santa and instead of milk, we paired these classic treats with shimmering white Sixlets in a snowflake adorned carafe and a decadent chocolate Nutcracker! Enjoy!
2 cups butter
3 cups white sugar
8 teaspoons baking powder
7 cups all-purpose flour
4 tablespoons anise extract (if you aren’t a fan of licorice flavor, simply substitute almond or vanilla!)
Mix ingredients in order given. Should be the consistency of a drop cookie.
Heat Pizzelle Iron. Drop about 1 heaping teaspoon on hot iron, wait approx. 40 seconds and enjoy!
